LAKESIDE – Danbury center Ian Kuzma had his way on Saturday as the Lakers welcomed Medina Christian Academy for a non-conference tilt.
Kuzma scored five baskets in the opening quarter and finished with 23 points as the Lakers had little trouble in a 74-32 win over the Knights.
Saylor Evans connected on a pair of 3-pointers and Tyler Murray buried a long distance shot and scored five points in the first period as Danbury led 26-8 after one quarter of action.
The Lakers (1-1 overall) continued to extend their lead as Javion Murray chipped in with four second quarter points to make it 44-15 at the half.
After dominating the third period by a score of 17-5 Danbury used mainly its bench for the final quarter while Medina Christian Academy scored 12 points, the most points in any of the four quarters by the Knights.
Spencer Savage scored six of his team-high ten points during the fourth for the Knights.
Danbury will open its Sandusky Bay Conference (River Division) play on Friday as it travels to Sandusky St. Mary’s Central Catholic.
