ELMORE - The Woodmore boys' basketball team opened the season by hosting Port Clinton on Thursday.
The Wildcats' Drew Burner found his rhythm early as he scored 17 of his team's 37 first half points as Woodmore earned a 64-41 victory over the Redskins.
Burner connected on a total of six 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 29 points while Andrew Barringer chipped in with ten points.
Woodmore grabbed a 21-16 lead after one quarter and then held Port Clinton to just five second quarter points as the Wildcats extended their lead to 37-20 at the half.
Port Clinton's Dylan Simpson finished with 11 points and Sammy Diaz scored eight (two 3-pointers).
In all, Woodmore finished with nine 3-pointers while Port Clinton had just two.
