OAK HARBOR - Woodmore and Oak Harbor both opened their 2018 seasons on Tuesday afternoon at the Oak Harbor athletic complex.
After falling behind by a goal, the Wildcats were led by senior Hayden Heidebrink as Woodmore rallied and came away victorious by a score of 5-2.
The Rockets (0-1 overall) took an early 1-0 lead when junior Aidan Barton assisted senior Kolton Hall for the first score of the game with 28:13 left in the first half.
It didn't take long for Woodmore to respond as four minutes later as Heidebrink knocked a kick into the right side of the net past Oak Harbor's Caleb Goldstein in net.
Nearly ten minutes later the Wildcats took a 2-1 advantage as senior Brandon Blausey took advantage of Goldstein slipping down and Blausey scored.
Heidebrink blasted his second goal of the contest with 3:01 left in the opening half to make it 3-1.
Heidebrink finished with two assists as well to go along with his two scores.
Meanwhile, Woodmore's goalies teamed up to allow just two goals on eight shots by the Rockets.
Woodmore had a large advantage on shots taken as the Wildcats took 37 during the contest.
In the second half, Paul Koenig and Josh Hazel connected on shots to round on Woodmore's scoring.
Oak Harbor's second goal came from Barton.
The Wildcats will play in Elida on Thursday and Saturday in the Elida tournament with Thursday's contest to be against Mansfield St. Peter's.
Oak Harbor will travel to Van Buren Saturday afternoon for a 2 pm contest.
