SJCC's Adrienne Wehring throws to first to record an out in Thursday's game against Carey
FREMONT - Carey's Hailey Niederkohr did what every good lead off hitter should do during Thursday's non-conference contest at Fremont St. Joseph Central Catholic.
Niederkohr got on base during all four of her at bats setting up the Blue Devils' offense as Carey took a 12-1 decision over the Crimson Streaks.
Carey (8-1 overall) put four runs on the board in the top of the first as Niederkohr led the game off with a double and scored the first of the runs during the inning.
The Blue Devils led 4-0 before SJCC recorded the first out of the contest, but the Crimson Streaks set down the next three batters to get out of the inning.
Kimmie Burns then led off SJCC's first inning with a double and then scored on an RBI single by Brooke Casperson.
That was the Crimson Streaks' only run of the contest as Carey added four more runs in the second, one in the third, and three in the fifth.
Niederkohr finished 4-of-4 with two doubles and three runs scored while driving in a run for the Blue Devils.
Carey finished with 13 hits.
SJCC (0-9 overall) finished with four hits as Burns had two, Casperson one, and Belle Michael one.
Hannah Lonsway was the winning pitcher for Carey going five innings and striking out seven.
