SJCC Loses Lead in Loss to Carey

FREMONT - Fremont St. Joseph Central Catholic led unbeaten Carey by three after four innings of action, but the Blue Devils' bats awoke in the fifth inning as Carey rallied for a 7-5 win on the road.

Carey (9-0 overall) scored four times in the top of the fifth to take its first lead, then lost the lead briefly in the bottom of the inning before scoring once in the sixth and twice in the seven in the win.

Brody Deck held the Blue Devils' bats in check the first four innings as Deck went 5 1/3rd innings on the mound striking out seven batters.

Carey mustered just three hits off Deck, but a couple of mistakes allowed Carey to get on base and on the scoreboard.

Logan Black scored two of SJCC's runs while going 1-for-3 with an RBI while Tad Foster and Dylan Filliater each had two hits.

SJCC falls to 6-8 overall on the season and will look to get back in the win column on Saturday when it hosts Woodmore for a double header beginning at 11 am.
