OAK HARBOR - Oak Harbor senior Aric McAtee looked cool and collected on the mound during Wednesday's Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division contest against Margaretta.
McAtee gave up just two hits in seven innings and fanned 12 batters to keep the Polar Bears offense off the board in a 4-0 victory for Oak Harbor.
Every batter in Margaretta's lineup was set down with at least one strike out as Zach Luma and Isaac Fenwich were the only two to muster a hit off McAtee.
On the mound for Margaretta, Luma held Oak Harbor in check for the first three innings before the Rockets got to the junior.
With two outs in the bottom of the fourth and McAtee on first following a walk, Jac Alexander singled followed by a walk from Kyle Hanselman to load the bases.
Adam Ohms was hit by a pitch to drive in Oak Harbor's first run before an error scored three runs for the Rockets as Clay Schulte banged the ball to first.
A miscue by the first baseman eventually allowed all three runners to score to make it 4-0.
Luma, who went 4 1/3 innings, suffered the loss despite giving up just one earned run and two hits in the game.
Tyler Laughlin and Alexander picked up the only hits for Oak Harbor as the Rockets remain in first place with a record of 6-3 (4-0 SBC Bay).
The Rockets will play at Port Clinton on Friday.
Margaretta will play at Fremont St. Joseph Central Catholic on Thursday.
