Abby Gregg takes off from second and scores to tie the game at 1-1 in the second inning.
OAK HARBOR - It's still relatively early in the season, but Margaretta and Oak Harbor knew that Wednesday's Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division battle was an important one.
With two outs in the bottom of the fifth the Rockets took the upper hand and never looked back as the Polar Bears fell 4-1 at Oak Harbor High School.
Dani Epling and Kaytlynn Sandwisch dropped back to back singles before Seree Petersen shot an RBI single to left to give Oak Harbor a 2-1 lead.
After the big two out hit, Lauren St. Clair stepped to the plate looking to give the Rockets a little more cushion.
St. Clair delivered a two run double to center bringing home Sandwisch and Petersen as Oak Harbor led by three after five innings.
Sandwisch finished with three hits at the plate.
Oak Harbor senior Ashley Riley then retired the last six Margaretta batters after a lead-off single to start the sixth as Riley earned the win from the pitcher's circle.
Riley pitched all seven innings allowing four hits while striking out four.
The Polar Bears (4-1, 2-1 SBC Bay) took a 1-0 lead in the second inning as Ashlee Stanley scored on a sacrifice fly to right center field with one out in the inning.
Petersen made a big catch but the fly ball by Logan Bush allowed Margaretta to score its first and only run in the contest.
The Rockets quickly responded in the bottom of the second as Abby Gregg, who was pinch running, scored on an RBI by Emily Lenke.
Lenke was thrown out trying to stretch a single into a double, but Gregg scored before the out and second to tie the score at 1-1.
Oak Harbor (9-2, 4-0 SBC Bay) had two hits by Epling and Lenke.
Jayden Moore led Margaretta with two hits while Taylor Pemberton and Tori Miller registered the other hits for the Polar Bears
