PORT CLINTON - Kaylee Dodson homered in the first inning and Gabby Zuniga launched a homer in the sixth as Fremont Ross picked up a 13-6 victory over Port Clinton on Wednesday.
After an RBI triple by Braelyn Horn in the first inning, Dodson gave the Little Giants a 2-0 lead with a solo shot, her first of the season.
Dodson drove in Zuniga in the fifth inning with a two-out single making it 3-0 after Zuniga was hit by a pitch earlier in the inning.
The Redskins cut Fremont's lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the fifth before the Little Giants opened things up in the sixth.
Morgan Englund raced out an RBI triple followed by an RBI triple from Kayla Rich for Fremont's first two scores of the inning.
After Rich scored on a wild pitch, Zuniga blasted the first pitch she saw in her at bat over the center field fence making it 7-1.
The Little Giants would tack on two more runs in the inning for a 9-1 advantage.
Fremont would follow up that inning by adding four more runs in the top of the seventh before Port Clinton made a valiant effort at a late game rally.
The Redskins scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh but were unable to rally all the way back.
In all, Fremont banged out 17 hits as Zuniga, Dodson, and Mekayla Logan each had three.
Rich, Horn, and Paige Risch each had two hits.
Englund earned the win from the pitcher's circle, tossing six innings of action.
