OAK HARBOR - Following a loss last Saturday against Margaretta, the Oak Harbor girls' basketball team was looking to get back into the win column.
A home game against Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division rival Port Clinton on Friday did the trick as the Rockets rolled to a 59-23 win over the Redskins.
Oak Harbor (9-3, 3-2 SBC Bay) held Port Clinton to just three field goals in the opening half as it opened up a 30-9 lead at intermission.
Ashley Riley opened the scoring with a 3-pointer, one of two for her in the contest, and Abby Dornbusch added five of her seven points in the first as the Rockets led 14-5 after one.
Delayna Laurel knocked in the Redskins' lone basket of the quarter while Paige Steyer added a pair of free throws and Erin Hiller added another foul shot.
Hannah Paeth and Abby Decker tallied Port Clinton's only two baskets of the second quarter as Oak Harbor extended its lead.
Sophia Eli knocked in two baskets and Logan Harris added a pair as well while 3-pointers from Riley and Jill Thorbahn added up for almost all of the second quarter scoring for the Rockets.
Thorbahn's 3-pointer came at the buzzer.
In the third, Harris scored nine of her game-high 19 points before exiting the game as Oak Harbor gave playing time to several reserve players.
Oak Harbor will return to action next Tuesday as it will travel to Milan to play Edison.
The Redskins (2-9, 1-4 SBC Bay) will host Margaretta next Tuesday.
* Note - Oak Harbor junior Logan Harris needs just 40 points to reach 1,000 for her career.
