CLYDE - Anyone familiar with the Clyde girls' basketball program knew it would only be a matter of time before the Lady Fliers would get things rolling.
After a 1-4 start to the season, Clyde picked up its fourth straight win on Thursday, knocking off Sandusky St. Mary's Central Catholic 60-44.
The Fliers (5-4 overall) fell behind early as Faith Lamb gave the Panthers six first quarter points and Maggie London added another four as SMCC took a 13-10 lead.
Clyde then took off Maddie Bannister.
Bannister drained three of her five 3-pointers in the second quarter, Jackie Smith scored six points, Heidi Marshall chipped in with five, and Alexis Keegan made all four of her free throws.
That boosted the Fliers to a 36-20 lead at the half.
Bannister led all scorers with 17 points while Marshall finished with 15 and Smith had 12.
Two more 3-pointers by Bannister in the third quarter aided Clyde along the way as it opened a 53-29 lead after three quarters.
Lamb, along with Ashley Huntley, led SMCC (3-7 overall) with nine points apiece.
Clyde will be on the road Friday with a trip to Lexington while the Panthers are off until next Wednesday when they play at Huron.
