TOLEDO - From Fremont Ross's earlier battle against Toledo St. Francis the Little Giants showed a little improvement on Tuesday.
Minus the Knight's second quarter dominance, the Little Giants held serve despite losing 63-46 to St. Francis in Three Rivers Athletic Conference action.
Bryce Root scored four first quarter points for Fremont, who lost to the Knights by 39 points earlier this season, as Fremont trailed by just three after one quarter.
Davion Anderson added a 3-pointer during the quarter for the Little Giants (3-9, 1-7 TRAC).
St. Francis connected on three 3-pointers in the second quarter as Andrew Kozak, Aaron Swerlein, and Jackie Harris all tickled the net from long-range during the quarter.
That sparked St. Francis' 20-9 second quarter advantage which put the Little Giants behind 35-21 at the half.
St. Francis (12-3, 6-2 TRAC) was led by Harris' 14 points while Drew Swerlein's 13 points and Tayler McNeal finished the game with ten.
Root remained Fremont's top scorer by knocking in another seven points during a third quarter in which the Little Giants cut St. Francis' lead to ten.
Root finished 16 points to lead all scorers.
Tre Campbell sank two 3-pointers in the third to add to Fremont's 15-12 advantage.
In the end, the Knights held their own as they went on to win their fourth straight.
St. Francis will return to conference action on Friday when it hosts Lima Senior while Fremont Ross will play at conference leading Toledo St. John's.
