Polar Bears Pick up Big Win

CASTALIA - There may be no hotter team in the area than the Margaretta girls' basketball team.

On Tuesday, the Polar Bears continued an impressive streak by garnering their 11th straight win by defeating a very strong Willard club by the score of 59-44.

Margaretta (15-2, 8-1 Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division) used a 19-9 third quarter advantage to pull away from the Flashes.

The loss was Willard's first in division play as they fall to 10-5 (7-1 SBC Bay).

Behind Taylor Malson's 23 points, Margaretta shot nearly 50-percent from two-point range.

Margaretta also grabbed 37 rebounds to win the battle of the boards by six.

Kennedi Hilton added 14 points and Jayden Moore chipped in with 12 for Margaretta.

Willard had 14 points from Madie Secor and Cassidy Crawford finished with 11.

The Polar Bears will return to action on Saturday as they travel to Vermilion while Willard will look to stay tied for the divisional lead as they host Oak Harbor.

Willard defeated Oak Harbor by one point earlier this season with a win at the buzzer.
