Logan Harris of Oak Harbor releases the shot that reached her 1,000th career point in Tuesday's home contest against Vermilion.
OAK HARBOR - Oak Harbor junior, Logan Harris, entered Tuesday's Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division's contest needing just four points to reach 1,000 points in her career.
Just seconds into the game Harris knocked in her first two points leaving those in attendance thinking she'd reach her mark early in the game.
It didn't come that easy, though, as Harris and the Rockets struggled for most of the first quarter before Harris made her second basket of the game with 1:14 remaining in the quarter during Oak Harbor's 55-43 victory over the Sailors.
The win also marked Oak Harbor coach Tom Kontak's 200th career win.
While Oak Harbor fans had something to cheer about with Harris' basket, Vermilion took advantage of a sluggish Rockets' start to grab a 14-12 lead after one quarter.
The Rockets (12-3, 6-2 Bay Division)) found a little rhythm in the second quarter, but Vermilion remained feisty and kept things entertaining.
At the half, Oak Harbor had pulled ahead to the tune of 23-20 as Jill Thorbahn scored her only two points late in the half.
Sophia Eli tickled the net from 3-point distance four times and finished with 18 points while Harris finished with 26 points.
The two helped carry the team as the Rockets were only up by five after three quarters.
Camryn Colahan led Vermilion with 12 points while CeCe Dillon and Maddie Colahan each added nine points.
Vermilion (7-11, 2-7 Bay Division) will return to action Saturday when it hosts Margaretta.
The Rockets will be on the road Saturday afternoon with a big showdown at Willard.
Willard defeated Oak Harbor 49-48 earlier this season on a buzzer beater.
