Oak Harbor's Conner Hoy squares up for one of his two 3-pointers in Saturday's win over Port Clinton
OAK HARBOR - If Oak Harbor thought it was going to get anything less than Port Clinton's best shot on Saturday they would have been mistaken.
In a physical battle between two rivals in Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division action, the Rockets fought their way to a 55-46 victory over Port Clinton.
After a slow start by both teams, the Rockets (8-2, 4-1 SBC Bay) opened an 18-11 lead as Jac Alexander knocked in ten of Oak Harbor's points.
The Redskins had led 8-5 before Oak Harbor finished the quarter on a 13-3 run.
Alexander, who finished with a game-high 23 points, got in early foul trouble after his fast start and the Redskins took advantage by closing the game to 26-23 at the half.
Sammy Diaz and Max Rumbarger provided much of the Port Clinton offense as the two finished with 15 and 11 points, respectively.
With the game still in jeopardy, Oak Harbor capitalized on several second half free throws finishing with 11 in the game.
The Redskins fell to 0-9 (0-5 SBC Bay) with the loss and will now turn their attention to next Friday's home contest against Margaretta.
Oak Harbor will play a road game at Edison.
