Oak Harbor's Tate Smith reverses a shot on Friday against Willard
OAK HARBOR - Willard entered the Launch Pad on Friday looking to stay unbeaten in Sandusky Bay Conference Bay Division play.
The Flashes, winners of three straight and 2-0 in division play, came out timid and flat and Oak Harbor took advantage in a 70-39 route over Willard.
Clay Schulte hurt the Flashes' defense early on by scoring eight early points as the Rockets grabbed a 12-0 lead to start the contest.
Willard's first basket came a shade under one minute left when Dorian Holiday dropped in the Flashes only points of the quarter.
The Rockets led 16-2 after one quarter as Tate Smith tallied the final four points of the period.
Oak Harbor (6-2, 2-1 SBC Bay) continued to keep the pressure on the Flashes as the Rockets outscored Willard 24-12 in the second.
Schulte, who registered 23 points in the game, sank five 3-pointers in the half.
Eight Oak Harbor players tallied at least one point behind Smith's 24 points.
Oak Harbor went to its bench midway through the third quarter giving some of its back-ups extra playing time and did the same in the final quarter.
Willard was led by Terry Baldridge's 13 points while Miles Pinkston, Brevon Polacheck, and Holida each added six.
The Rockets will return to action on January 4th with a big divisional contest against Margaretta.
Willard (3-5, 2-1 SBC Bay) will travel to Norwalk on Saturday.
